My experience at Chandani Chowk was really amusing. Initially it was little bizzare and over the top, but one you get indulge in the mob everything gets really simple.  Anyone who is planning to go to the New Delhi, should visit this ancient heritage site where the Mughals used to Thrive.

Waling Tour of Chandni Chowk

Old DElhi Old Picture

When I stepped down for the metro, for a moment I was baffled after seeing the crowd. It appeared like the whole population of Delhi was crawling on the street Chandani Chowk on the same day. But to my surprise, that was just a mere group of people from the city.
As I was coming out of the metro station I was really amazed by the diversity. Crowd at that area was really diverse compared to the crowd of high-class Delhi. It seemed most of the people there were from small cities of India.
My destination was Natraj Dahi Bhalla Wala. It is a small shop located in right at the corner of the entrance of the small alley that leads to metro station. Be little careful while sporting it, because you can easily miss this place without even realising.

This little piece of history is more than 50 years old which is very common in the old terrain of Delhi. In that area almost every shops has crossed their 50’s
The shop appeared little small in the first impression. In the entrance only they had one huge oil container where few people were continuously frying Allo (potatoes) Tikki continuously. From there engagement, it appeared they were really famous in what they do. I went to the first-floor area of the small restaurant.
Sitting area had like 7-8 tables with food ordering counter on a side. They had some letters of recommendation and certificates hanging on their wall. It appeared many of the important people of India have visited that place because they were having their pictures on the wall, which was getting little dusty. Some were really old and some were new as if of yesterday only. I found this practice really famous especially in Delhi, where they hang the proof that they are really famous in their domain.
These pictures were actually giving a glimpse of their glorious history which you certainly can’t refrain from
I took a seat near the window. Mind you guys they don’t have A.C and if you’re visiting Delhi in summers, it can get really hot. After asking the waiter and other people around I ordered for Dahi Bhalla and a cup of lassi which is essential to order if you’re anywhere in Delhi. After that I eagerly waited for my order.
It took them Almost 10 min which is not much time to get my order ready. You may say that I’m bragging, but I have this strange ability that I can sense my order the time it goes on fire, and this time also I wasn’t wrong.
My excitement was at another level after seeing that delicious piece of art.
They served in the clay pot which had the really earthy smell. The Bhalla was merged in the sweet curd (Yoghurt), which was slightly sprinkled with some spices and with small amount of sweet chutney which is essential in any chaat dish in India. It appeared to me that they have used chilly powder, chaat masala, black cumin powder, rest of it was like the untold secret. The food was really simple and delicate without any fuzz.
From the first bite, I was blown by the taste. The sweet curd/yoghurt which was looking really simple and delicate was actually a bomb of flavours. It was sweet, little tangy and with the perfect amount of spice. Taste of it was really settled down was not at all dominating my taste buds. Bhalla which was merged in the curd was little crunchy from outside and from inside equally soft and tender. They had the stuffing of fried Chana daal which was tossed it some spices to provide extra crunch to the Bhalla. And if you mix the taste of both Curd and Bhalla, it was mesmerising. And the clay pot in which it was served was like providing an extra dimension to it
I found it really ingenious how they have combined different flavours and developed such delicate and gently taste, which will leave you with a fine memory of it and would always make you hungry when you will think about it.
I would recommend everyone, if you’re in Delhi do not forget to visit this place.
